Diverse: varied

The different skin colors show how diverse her assortments of friends are.


Antonyms: alike; identical

It was difficult to distinguish the sets of identical twins.



Benevolent: kind; good-hearted; generous

The benevolent caretaker spent extra time with her elderly patients.


Antonyms: brutal; hard-hearted

After hearing his complaints for days, his co-worker became hard-hearted to his stories.



Pious: reverent or devout; outwardly (and sometimes falsely) reverent or devout

The pious woman was dedicated to her daily prayers.


Antonyms: disloyal; faithless

The atheists’ faithless cartoon was insulting to Christians.



Conciliatory: making peace; attempting to solve a dispute through goodwill
The leaders of the feuding countries were conciliatory at the conclusion of their meeting.


Antonyms: antagonistic; fighting; stubborn

The two-faced businessman was antagonistic when dealing with a co-worker.



Resignation: reluctant acceptance of a bad situation
With deep resignation, the driver sadly left the beach without finding his keys.


Antonyms: agreement, taking on

The political leaders were in eager agreement to sign the treaty. 



Resolute: determined; firm; unwavering
The helmeted mouse was resolute in his plan to steal the cheese.


Antonyms: indecisive; faltering
Scratching his head, the man was indecisive as to what to have for lunch.



Servile: submissive and subservient; like a servant
Frustrated with his servile position, the man decided to go back to school to get his degree.


Antonyms: aggressive; dominant
The aggressive lioness was in control of the situation.



Acute: sharp; shrewd

The acute pain in his chest was a sign of a heart attack.


Antonyms: noncritical; nonurgent

A massage helped ease the noncritical pain of her headache.



Reticent: restrained; uncommunicative

The suspect was reticent when questioned by the police. 


Antonyms: communicative; open

The new college students were communicative on their retreat.



Anarchy: absence of government or control; lawlessness; disorder
Anarchy in the third world country resulted in riots in the street.


Antonyms: lawfulness; order; rule

Political order is kept in the U.S. by the three branches of government.
