Augment: to add to; to increase; to make bigger

Working out with weights helped to augment his muscles.



Antonyms: decrease, diminish, downsize

She diminished her waistline by eating healthy foods. 



Complacent: smug; self-satisfied; pleased with oneself, contented to a fault

The complacent worker was content to daydream and let the work pile up.


Antonyms: concerned, interested

The concerned teacher helped the student understand the science experiment. 



Guile: cunning; duplicity (person is full of guile)

With cunning and guile, the girls crept past their parents to sneak out of the house.


Antonyms: good faith, sincerity

Squander: to waste

The man squandered his money and was left penniless. 


Antonyms: conserve

Recycling is a great way to conserve natural resources.



Incessant: unceasing; never-ending

Infamous: shamefully wicked; having (and deserving) an extremely bad reputation; disgraceful

Charlie Sheen is infamous for his bad behavior.


Antonyms: honorable, reputable, respectful

Mother Teresa is an honorable woman who is respected for her works of charity.



Provocative: exciting, attracting attention

Abercrombie uses provocative advertising to get customers in the door.


Antonyms: repressive, suppressive

The breathing treatments helped with the suppression of her asthma symptoms.
